Veneers are very similar to crowns, and are made out of the same material - porcelain. However, veneers are a thin layer of porcelain layered onto the front of misshapen, discoloured or damaged teeth.

The advantages of veneers are:

• the appearance of the teeth and smile is dramatically improved
• veneers can be coloured and shaped to feel exactly like a natural tooth
• this is a less invasive treatment than crowns, because more of the original tooth is left intact
• veneers can help to protect the tooth underneath from sensitivity from hot and cold
