A fond farewell to Christine!

Christine Bolton retires from Oak Lodge Dental

Special thanks go to Christine Bolton as she retires from her role of Practice Manager after a hugely successful 25 years in the position.

Christine's invaluable contribution to Oak Lodge's success

Christine has played an instrumental role in Oak Lodge from the beginning, driving the business forward with her expert management of operational, financial, marketing and HR matters at the practice.

Christine initially supported the opening of the practice in a converted study at the family home.

Keeping two young children entertained (and quiet!) on a Saturday morning and Wednesday evening when Phil was running his initial clinics in our converted home study was no mean feat, but it was also fairly short-lived as the practice grew so quickly in popularity, we realised we would need to find larger premises before too long.

Formerly a Finance Manager at National Grid in Guildford, Christine gave up her day job and stepped into the full-time Practice Manager role not long after the opening of the practice on the current site at 3 Headley Road, Liphook in 1989.

Building a practice for the community

Christine has since shepherded the practice through countless changes and developments, including two extensions, all recruitment over the years culminating in the current team of 4 dentists, 2 hygienists, 3 nurses and 4 support staff, changing governance and technology, materials and practices and not forgetting the very significant challenges and changes of the last 15 months to safeguard the practice and patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of all, Christine has enjoyed seeing generations of the same family return again and again to the practice, building a great rapport and sense of community.

It has been a great privilege to build such strong bonds with our patients over the years. We have patients of all walks of life with fascinating stories, we have seen children grow into adults and go on to have their own children, and of course mourned those patients we have lost over the years. We take our responsibilities of caring for each patient as an individual very seriously. They feel like an extended family, and I will miss everyone very much! Thank you to each of you for being part of our practice.

I have worked with a brilliant team over the years and I would also like to thank all those who have worked at Oak Lodge past and present for helping to make the practice a wonderful place to visit and to work.

Jo Newsham will be stepping up as Practice Manager and along with the rest of the fabulous team, I know the practice is in good hands.

Looking to the future

Christine is a tour-de-force, and we are so grateful for her many years’ of service to the Practice. She leaves behind her an exceptionally well-run business, with forward-thinking systems and processes. She will be greatly missed but we wish her every best wish for a happy retirement.

Excited to throw herself into some new projects, as well as enjoying a little bit more of a laid-back pace, Christine retired officially on 21 June. Christine is looking forward to travelling, when restrictions allow, projects at home and spending more time with her five grandchildren.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Christine - you have been the glue that holds this practice together and you will be sorely missed.

A celebratory retirement book is being compiled for Christine by her daughter, Katherine, who invites anyone wishing to share a comment for inclusion in the book to email it to her at katherine@mzuri.co.uk. Thank you.
